Thüringen

Erfurt, the capital state of Thuringia and largest city in the region, provides a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Small streets, cafes and individual shops present themselves in the old town. Homemade specialties from the region are found as well as glass art from Thuringia.
The Krämer Bridge, the oldest building in Erfurt is the most famous landmark of the city. On both sides timbered house lines on the bridge over the Gera who was part of the East-West trade route Via Regia. The name comes from the time when on the former wooden bridge, traders their “stuff” offered. Even today you will find small shops with art glass, porcelain and Thuringia specialties as well.
In 2017, numerous events will take place in Thuringia and the region for the Luther reformation day. Luther studied at the University of Erfurt, where he in 1505 received his Master of Arts.
Visitors will find numerous parks and green spaces to relax and enjoy. No wonder because Erfurt is known for its gardening such as the egapark and the German Horticultural Museum. In addition, the city of flowers 2021 hosted the Bundesgartenschau.
